Last weekend my girlfriend and I made a trip to Tyrol and Bavaria. On Saturday we drove from Linz to Innsbruck, where we walked through the small alleys and ate some ice cream, as the weather was very hot. After seeing the Goldene Dachl, the landmark of Innsbruck, we got to the river Inn. From there you have a beautiful view on the Nordkette, with several colorful houses in front of it on the other side of the river.

Later that day we continued our journey to Seefeld in Tyrol, where we had booked our AirBnB for the night. Seefeld is just a few kilometers south of the german border, so before the sun set I wanted to drive to Geroldsee, which was only 20 minutes away. My only concern was the weather, because after a sunny day big clouds started to appear. On the way to Gerold it started to rain heavily and it didnt show a sign to stop soon. About one hour before sunset it was still raining but i wanted to wait until then in case the weather got better. And here the luck came in. About 10 minutes before sunset the rainclouds moved on and it got brighter. I jumped out of the car, packed my camera and ran over a field next to the Geroldsee. The last sunrays lit up the landscape in a beautiful golden light and over the lake a rainbow formed. In a rush i got a decent shot of this scenery.

After catching my breath again I realised how lucky i got, because five minutes later the rainbow was gone and the light was different again. The fields were wet, the air was humid but standing there and having witnessed this special moment was unbelievable. As it got dark soon my girlfriend and I, she also arrived on the little hill just in time to see the rainbow, headed back to the car. We drove back to Seefeld to catch some sleep. Before going to bed I checked the weather for the next morning, because i also wanted to get a photo at sunrise of this stunning location. It looked quite promising so I set the alarm at 4:00am in the morning and went to sleep.
When the alarm went off I really wasnt well rested but after looking out of the window and seeing no clouds at all I made the decision to drive to Gerold again. My lovely girlfriend was supporting me so we both got in the car and headed north. Soon we realised that the valleys in germany were foggy and like in the evening before it didnt look very promising. At the time of sunrise the fog hung thick over the fields and the lake.

Nevertheless I wanted to wait until the fog disappeared, as it was only a matter of minutes. Other photographers came up the hill and were a bit disappointed but they also knew that the situation may change soon. One hour after sunrise, the warm summersun let the fog evaporate and gave a clear view of the scenery and I was happy to have waited for this moment. Sharing such an adventure with my girlfriend gives me joy and i cant wait for the next trip.

After this experience we hopped in the car again and drove to the Kochelsee. In Schlehdorf on the nothern side of this lake there are three pile dwellings, which are a nice photo motif. As this day was a hot day again, we decided to drive back home and end our lucky journey.
